How we calculate CPC

CPC shows how much each click costs. When you also provide impressions, we calculate CTR and connect the two metrics.

Use the CPC Calculator

Formula

CPC = investment ÷ clicks

CTR (%) = (clicks ÷ impressions) × 100

CPC = CPM ÷ (CTR × 10)

Variables

investment
Total campaign budget.
clicks
Valid clicks recorded.
impressions
Optional; enables the CTR calculation.

Step-by-step calculation

  1. We divide the investment by the number of clicks.
  2. If impressions are provided, we calculate CTR and show clicks per dollar.

Worked example

Inputs

  • Investment: $900
  • Clicks: 1,800
  • Impressions: 120,000

Calculation

CPC = 0.50

CTR = 1.5%

CPC of $0.50 with a CTR of 1.5%.

Common mistakes

  • Optimizing only for CPC and losing traffic quality.
  • Ignoring that better creatives raise CTR and lower CPC without touching the bid.
